Escalation of Sanctions
Things have changed drastically in Unionland folks mainly due to Ministry of Education interference in the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit negotiations. As a result, increased sanctions will start back up again on Monday the 10th of December. Examples are: arriving early to school (15 minutes) and leaving right after daily duties are done and the cessation of Extra Curricular activities. Update
Conciliation meeting was Oct 25 and a “No Board Report” will be issued before Nov 2. What this means is that in approximately 3 weeks we will be in a strike/sanction position. To that end we will be ramping up towards that date by holding Strike Rules Committee meetings and massive emails to keep you informed as to what is going on.

New Rules
We have had several inquiries about the New Regulation 274/12 regarding the new hiring rules for LTO’s & Contract jobs for Occasional Teachers. The problem is we don’t have much to tell you as the Board isn’t sure what they are doing in this situation either. STRIKE VOTE RESULTS
We now have the results from our September Strike Vote.
Locally 89% were or are in favour of job action or in support of the strike vote. Provincially the count was 92% in favour of strike action.
104 Occasional/LTO Teachers cast their vote here in Simcoe County.

Insurance Trust Fund Update
As you were earlier informed, the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit Council passed a resolution to distribute the “Insurance Trust Funds” to individuals who had participated in the SCDSB/OSSTF Group Benefit Plan based on the number of years they had been involved in the above Plan.
